In winter, Abraham Lake’s frozen bubbles are a must-see. All are easy-access, with additional hike-based locations available.

When is the best time to visit?

June–September offers warm weather and vibrant lakes. October–April delivers winter beauty with fewer crowds.

Yes. Our vehicles switch to winter tires in October and carry emergency items such as shovels, blankets, and salt bags. Guides adjust routes based on conditions.

Is wildlife commonly seen? When is the best time to see them?

Yes - wildlife sightings are common in Banff, Yoho, and Jasper, but each animal has its own pattern:

Bears: Most visible in May and June when they come out of hibernation and graze on fresh wildflowers along the valleys and roadside meadows. They move higher as summer progresses, making early-season sightings more likely.

Elk: Bull elk are especially active and visible during spring and fall, often seen in open fields, around rivers, and near forest edges.

Mountain goats: Goats prefer high, steep cliff faces and rocky ledges, often far above the road. They are harder to spot because they stay on narrow mountain sides for safety, but keen eyes may catch them on elevated rock walls.

Bighorn sheep: Often seen year-round, especially near rocky slopes or salt-licking areas along the highway.

Deer: Easily spotted in valleys and forest edges throughout the year.

Our guides monitor wildlife zones closely and will point out animals whenever it’s safe to stop.

Where are the best photo spots?
